that was about it for looptopia.  A few odd and quirky sights, but not much real entertainment.    Underwhelmed would be the wrong word.  I didn't have expectations of the event, just a slightly more entertaining friday.  instead, most of the events required advance tickets, or had lines around the block, or both.   I supposed it didn't help that me, my wife, and the friends we were meeting all wound up working 2 hours late, but i don't think getting there in time for the parade would have helped my impression.

Apparently getting there later would have been worse, the police gave up on the "dusk to dawn" thing, and closed it down at midnight.  go chicago.

(Our apartment has the advantage of being in a slightly less scary-sounding neighborhood). (Plus we have that costco membership that's never as helpful as when you want to buy large quantities of alcohol). We didn't have as many people as last year, which is good, since we don't have as much apartment as we did last year.
Also, Sarah has far greater camera ninja skills than i did last year, and she took a ton of absolutely amazing pictures. Which is good, because while hipster zombies are not the brilliant 'napoleon and deb' of last year, they certainly look hella cooler:

The party did achieve critical mass for a while, but not quite long enough to dispose of the treats. my fridge is now fuller with beer than any fridge i have ever owned. The leftover candy we can probably give away on tuesday, but i think the parents in the neighborhood might not like us so much if we were handing out beers.
