Commandeer the side of a building. attach a prefabricated unit in the middle of the night. spray-paint an instruction template on the wall. keep somebody in a warm dry bed for as long as the establishment allows.

or how to make homeless shelters acceptable. a posable structure that accomodates multiple functions. bench by day, chrysalis by night. posable wood chains, hand adjustable to lock into position. a plastic membrane to create dry space when inside, padding when outside. a combination of public and private by an undulating surface division.

to those who say an outdoor shelter is dsmissive of the homeless' humanity do not think that these would enforce a releagation of the homeless to the outdoors. consider the model of the needle exchange: accept a person's choice. there will always be those who choose to live on the street; we should make it as tolerable as possible.
