With the arrival of wordpress 2.1, andy's comment about database tables has finally come around and bitten disconnected and the links list. I added version 1.1.1r2 to the list of incompatible themes, which made me very sad. i haven't updated the theme in forever, so even though it's just a maintenance release, there are a lot of changes:
- Disabled the linkslist widget for anyone running 2.1 or above. (it's still there for anyone on wordpress 2.0.x) It's been removed entirely from the non-widgetized sidebar. if you're not using widgets, and not upgrading to wordpress 2.1, don't bother upgrading.
- added hAtom support (i think. there's no validator, and i'm not sure how to check it against a schema)
- added smackfoo's javascript
- added a version check script, from ceejay's tutorial (in case my hAtom support isn't right), like the screenshot up above
- fixed a bug in the tag page (props Pepe)
- renamed the archive template to match other themes (you'll have to switch the page template if you're upgrading, but if you're switching themes, it will probably be the same as your archive template).
- added a meta description tag to the head of the document
- added chris pearson's SEO friendly titles
- added some standard classes to use in posts
- added the custom header option.
so head off to the theme page, and download! Oh, and a small favor. if anyone is hosted with dreamhost, please, contact their tech support and ask them to upgrade the version on their servers. i can't, since i'm not hosted by them.

Lest we forget that this was awarded the Best Two-Column Design, I will remind everyone.
Hoo-rah for the hAtom support as well as for the special classes.
Thanks for pointing out Ceejay’s tutorial on the version-checking script. Methinks I shall put that in my theme revisions as well.
hAtom FTW!
I’m a big fan of the Disconnected Theme, but 1.2 is being finicky with Wordpress 2.2- For some reason, the widget menu only recognizes Outward as a widget, not inward.
Is there something wrong with my host (dreamhost)’s php, or have you noticed this too?
Would it be possible to get info on how to widget-ify ALL the sidebars (Inward, Outward, Elsewhere, whatever else there might be) so I can completely customize my sidebar system more easily?
Much appreciated.
hmmm… i see you’re right. something changed when they bundled widgets into the core. i’ll work on that, and release a new version shortly. FWIW, outward = elsewhere. the only stuff that’s not widgetized is the meta stuff at the top of the sidebar on archive and single pages.
eta: it seems to be a lot of themes that use more than one sidebar.
apparently it’s themes with:
apparently ‘fixed’ means that if you add ID’s to your sidebars, you can still have more than one named sidebar. updated release is available on SF.net.
