Portfolio Printing

Lulu Portfolio

I just got the two portfolios back that I ordered from Lulu. They look pretty hot, although the picture doesn't do them justice. Lulu was a recommendation from Ben, and it was definately a good thing. The portfolios were half the price of kinkos. Granted, I didn't order them soon enough, so I had to order another from kinkos. For twice the price, kinkos printed the pages in reverse order, and failed to print the cover on cardstock. The lulu portfolios have a minor error1, but the slick binding, great color, and cheap price are totally worth it.

I layed the thing out in Scribus, which is a vast improvement over the aging copy of CorelDraw that I used 2 years ago (and even for the one I made during college). That said, It kept defaulting to A4 rather than 8.5x11, despite my repeatedly telling it that I wanted 8.5x11. It's alright, my main goal was for it to fit in my binder, rather than the legal size version that had to have its own bag. Scribus totally fell down on printing, though. It's only a ten page portfolio, yet it crashed every time I printed or tried to save as a PDF. I eventually had to save the cover and last page as PNG's.
