back to the real world

this weekend was my grandma's birthday. another trip out to the suburbs. and stuff. we went to lunch at the macaroni grill. normally, it's one of the better restaurants for vegans to try to play like normal, what with their build-your-own-pasta. not so this time, the wifest ordered soup and salad, usually a safe bet. unfortunately, the salad was pre-sprinkled with parmesan cheese, and the soup had bacon in it.
afterwards, we went back to her house for a bit. ever since she found out that the wifest and i first started talking over games of literati, my grandma's been waiting for a chance to take us on at scrabble. so, since it was her birthday, we indulged her.
Go Craze
the wifest and i played as a team, and made silly sentences at each other. we also won by a considerable amount. largely due to the wifest's use of quay, and several other words i didn't know.
after the ride back to the city for dinner at cafe bolero for margaritas, fried plantains, salad, and... cigars! Yes, technically, the new smoking ban is in effect, but it was a private party, and not in the bar itself.
after the live music and salsa dancing, one of the owners decided to pull out the dominoes. granted, it was some version more similar to matador than any of the other rule combinations in the wikipedia article. mostly it was like hearts, but with dominoes instead of cards. one things for sure, i definately need to practice.
