The Source of the Infection

the internet is all one big popularity contest, i fucking swear. sometimes it's kind of an interesting one, but no matter what anybody says their rationale is, buried somewhere, they're really just trying to look cool, so people will like them. that said, this meme is actually about evening the balance.

The experiment, henceforth referred to as “The Indie Virus,” has two goals:

  • To bring exposure to lesser known blogs (especially those outside of Technorati’s top 100)
  • To explore the metrics behind a viral linking campaign launched by the “little guys” (less popular blogs)

on that note: david gets the indie virus, ned gets the indie virus, and sarah gets the indie virus.

    yeah, it’s not necessarily bad, i mean, it’s what makes google and technorati useful. but i just feel like such an attention whore sometimes.
