AutoCAD has had a stranglehold on the drafting market for decades. AutoDesk runs a monopoly that makes microsoft look free, open, and benevolent by comparison. So Graphisoft wants to break into that market. Having used ArchiCAD for a year and a half, I can say that it is good, if a bit slower. It's certainly full-featured though. Even for drafting alone (no BIM), it holds its own.
The problem with trying to get into that market is that every kid out of college knows autocad. Why? the software is notoriously easy to crack, and AutoDesk doesn't prosecute students for piracy. (They do, however, routinely sue firms out of existence for running pirated copies). How do you break into a market like that?

give away your student licenses. Graphisoft is apparently doing well enough that they can afford it. Whatever performance gains you get out of autoCAD, it's still a deal with the devil. Learn archicad. Drafting is a skill that's separate from autoCAD. (using autoCAD is a skill unto itself)
