Vegan Progress

current tune: the von bondies - c'mon c'mon

okay, it's not that often. but it's definately a lot more than it used to be.
when melanie started the whole vegan thing, i was a bit freaked out. i like cheese. a lot. possibly more than i like steak. and i didn't want to give them up. and i haven't had to.
the way it works out is: melanie cooks vegan. so i eat vegan dinner, and whenever lunch is salad or something else that makes more sense as a larger batch, i eat vegan lunch. when we''re both having sandwiches, i have meat and cheese like normal. when we eat out (which is rare), i eat whatever i want. when there's cheese within a 20' radius, i eat it. (just kidding)
i'm getting to enjoy it, too. i get to not have to worry about eating too much, or being overweight. i get the benefits mentioned above, and i don't have to play the part of the militant vegan. except when people say something really stupid, like "there's no health reason for being vegan. mankind lived on meat for most of it's existence, it can't be wrong". you know, because no one actually has crohn's disease, lactose intolerance, or any other dietary restriction. stupid people always make me militant.

Hey Adam, I think that is a pretty cool compromise to the whole vegan thing. I am not that much of a meat lover anymore but I don’t know if I could ever go cold turkey on meat, cheese, etc. I can definitely see the health benifits of it. Have you lost any weight? What health benifits have you noticed? I’m curious to hear. Good luck on the whole thing.

i’ve lost about 15 pounds over the last year (175 to 160), i haven’t been sick since, and yehah, regular like clockwork.
quitting cold turkey would be insane, i couldn’t do it. it’s great to be able to go get burrito or a pizza whenever you miss those things too much.
