current tune: sleepytime gorilla museum - sleep is wrong
i'm glad he mindless self indulgence show sold out before josh and i got tickets. Since i didn't find out about the SGM show until last sunday when jon and i were at the bottom lounge. not that we couldn't have hocked the MSI tickets, it just would've been a pain. the SGM show was absolutely amazing.
When we first got to the area, we wound up waiting inside clarke's for JJ to show up, where kim proceeded to call me creepy, no less than a dozen times in as many minutes. and remind me that she and kim used to call me harry long toe (which i had happily forgotten). that was fun.
once JJ arrived and we went inside, tim menioned tha people had been talking about going to the MSI show. JJ freaked out because his friend Rob from tubring has apparently joined MSI, and could get us in to the show. this can only be good for MSI, although i'm not sure what will become of tubring. anyway, i wasn't terribly interested, since i've seen MSI before (with rob playing the keyboards, even) and i haven't seen SGM before, despite my cousin telling me how awesome they are repeatedly. Apparently the rest of the group felt the same way, so we stayed.
it was not really the sort of crowd i expected. SGM is prety damn heavy, so i expected at least some metal kids, but there were none. i guess maybe since it was an 18+ show. and not that i would have expected anyone to do anything other than stare in slack-jawed amazement at the stage. That was the best show i've ever seen. there are very few shows i've seen that were even in the same category as that show. aaron walked out of the show and said "what the fuck did i just see?" tha's pretty much it, there's not really a way to describe it.
tim said it was the heaviest show he'd ever seen, which it definately was for me too. not sure who previously held that title... relative ash, i guess.
