current tune converge - first light/last light
don't get me wrong, there are a lot of things i like about my new job. getting paid, on time, and a good amount, working on a mac, the transparent communication between me, my boss, and our engineers.
BUT.
i can't help but rate people by the music they listen to. and by that measure, i don't even want to know the people who work here. most common item found in an itunes playlist: Tchaikovsky. second? 10,000 maniacs or david grey. there's no easy way to run the numbers, so i'm purely guessing here. these are people MY AGE. i am not old. at least not that old.
beyond that, there's far too much early 90's christian alternative here. yes, i'm serious. grammatrain, bleach, five iron frenzy. i'll admit that i listened to those bands in high school youth group. that was 10 years ago. the music was bad then, but at least i could claim my parents made me listen to it. having those mp3's now should be grounds for imprisonment. shameful, i tell you.
there is one (small) ray of hope. the CAD administrator has 80GB of music, which includes the avalanches, the microphones, explosions in the sky, dj shadow, etc., in amongst a lot of live blues, and (of course) MORE CHRISTIAN CHEESE.
ugh.
