i'm not getting a ferrari. i'm happy enough sitting here:
for a while, the media center hasn't been doing any of it's cool party tricks. that's been mostly fixed. i picked up a a wireless card, so i can get online, and a cable splitter so i can recieve _some_ cable.
after our cable box fried, we went to get a new one from comcast. the new boxes (apparently our old style was discontinued) have no digital coax out, and they don't pass cable signal through. so all my media center was getting was snow. granted, it detects the set top box signal, but i couldn't get the remote signal repeater to work with the cable box, so i got nothing. now, with the splitter, i at least get local channels. that works for me, at least for 'VCR-like' functions, meaning i can record the OC, coupling, desperate housewives, and america's next top model.
it means i won't likely be using the PVR-like functions, though, since paying for cable, but not watching it is pretty silly. why cable companies still insist on set-top boxes, i don't know.
the wifest also bought me a wireless keyboard from iffy so that i can sit on the couch instead of the floor
that's why i'm not getting a laptop, since that would really only be so i could use it in the bedroom, which really isn't necessary.

I’m going to upgrade you to the Retail boxed version of the keyboard. Same thing just with a pretty box and warranty support. My gift to you.
OK, that was pretty cool when I posted that comment. Nice little slide out. Adam, would you care to do some simple consulting on the new upcoming UI of the avindigo.com website? Having now used it. We have a number of Ajax features planned.
thank you!
i’m certainly happy to help, although i don’t know javascript (or really anything other than php).
