it's done. i got an offer from k2's chief competitor which i have signed and returned. not only are they a larger firm that is presumably able to pay on time, but it's also a $5 an hour raise. and they work on macs. very odd for an architecture office. so sometime soon i'll be headed to peoria for training in archicad.
this will probably lean me towards switching myself onto a mac at some point. the mini's look so freakin' cool, but i can't really think of a single use for one. a powermac, on the other hand, could handily replace my current desktop. since i'm running MCE on it, it would serve better plugged into my stereo. it'll take a bit of research to see whether i can swap some important components between them, tho. otherwise the powermac could get prohibitively expensive. either way, i won't be switching until tiger comes out.

why is samba a better windows than windows? i'm talking about roaming profiles here. with a samba server, as far as your local computer is concerned, c:\Documents and Settings\%U actually resides on the server. none of this "synchronizing" crap windows servers subject you to. i assumed that this was something redmond might have fixed since NT 4.0. i was so looking forward to SBS 2003. oh well. at least group policy is cool.
and in two weeks, i won't be mentioning any of this ever again. also, the quoted lyrics are tomahawk, and having nothing to do with dba79.
